Established in 1920, the League of Women Voters is a national, grassroots, non-partisan political organization. Its members--men and women--work to increase understanding of major public policy issues and influence public policy through education and advocacy. 

Black Hawk-Bremer League of Women Voters. . .
 
--promotes active and informed participation through voter             registration and voter education
 
--provides leadership for legislative public forums when the state       legislature is in session
 
--provides leadership for non-partisan public forums for                 candidates for local and state office
 
--researches and studies issues
 
--discusses findings to reach consensus in open, constructive and     stimulating settings 
 
--observes and monitors public meetings
 
--takes action - for or against issues which the membership has         studied and reached consensus

Black Hawk Bremer League has formal program meetings the fourth Tuesday nights 7 - 9 p.m. September, February, March, and May at AEA 267. All meetings are open to the public.
